Sadly a leap is out of my price reach, but I have been playing with an xbox 360 kinect and Driver4VR - enhance your VR | Body Tracking, Head Tracking, Leap Motion

That is very cool : )

A colleague who is taking flight lessons, uses something similar at home for training - he has strapped on one of the Leap controllers onto his VR unit (might be Oculus, I can't recall) and so he can control his plane by actually reaching out and hitting virtual buttons.

He says the Leap controller and software does not get all the actions correct right all of the time, but it generally works, and certainly his practice at home has helped him in reality. I can imagine it saves a lot of money compared to real lessons.

There is a getting started guide here for Linux: Virtual Reality, Leap Motion, and Controlling Things! - Getting Started Guide

I'm planning to use it to control some technical feature at a trade show in a few months time, instead of the usual keyboard/mouse.

People like playing with things, so this should grab their attention.
