What are your Tech, Engineering and IoT Predictions for 2019?

EVERYBODY is predicting something these days. Some are predicting the stock market will go up, and there are others who say it will go down. There are AI predictions for 2019.image

image

There are of course American Superbowl predictions (visualize The Chicago Bears, please).

There are predictions about the Oscars (Best Picture, Actor, Actress, etc).

There are weather predictions. There are workplace predictions.

There are Hotel predictions.

There are even ANIMAL HOROSCOPE predictions (I guess for all the cat lovers in the world).

The element14 team wanted to get in on the fun of predictions for 2019. We thought you would too.

So, here's the question: What are your tech, engineering and/or IoT predictions for 2019?

Now, this covers a lot of ground.

So, let me help you get started.

You could answer this question in terms of:

Big Thingsimage

  • Transportation
  • Energy
  • Manufacturing
  • Telecom
  • Food
  • Housewares
  • Materials
  • Pure Science

Or, you could answer the questions in terms of:

Tech Buzz

  • Anything Smart
  • Autonomous
  • AI
  • Robots
  • Drones

Or, you could answer the question in terms of:

Technologyimage

  • Wireless Connectivity
  • Embedded Engineering
  • Internet of Things
  • Industrial Automation
  • Anything electronic that's Smaller than your Thumbnail

So, give me all you got!

Show me your Tech and engineering Crystal Ball.

Make me believe you have an eye into the future!

Please leave your comments below

Sincerely,

Randall

I suspect the marketing people will continue to 'polish t..s' and try to tell people it's everything they need.

There will be more automation of things we do for ourselves and this includes in vehicles.

Sadly the auomation will remove the understanding for why it was implemented and there will be consequences (eg ABS braking and ice)

Other uses for cellphones will continue to evolve. NFC to pay for things is one currently, but there will be other uses in identification.

IoT will eventually get the security it needs as consumers fight back against the security issues that keep popping up.

Hydrogen fuel cell technology will develop and (hopefully) will replace battery cars/trucks. (Charging cars is the issue and will grow as more come on the market)

Drones delivering packages will be seen as inefficient and dangerous, so law makers will have to take action.

Solar panels will become cheaper and while less efficent the price will make them cost effective.

Regardless of 2019 ... I think many here have seen the biggest advances in technolgy.

We've gone from calculators to computers and now the internet and streaming movies, ordering parts, sharing files and communication.

Video phone calls that were science fiction are available anywhere with skype and other apps.

Vehicles have gone from something you hoped would get you there, to something you don't touch and has more creature comforts than you thought possible, and costs less to buy and run.

Electronics now has more computing power than the early space days, costs less than a coffee and fits in a space that was unimaginable in the 60's.
