About Robotonics in his own words:
"I started my career in Electronics in the R.E.M.E (Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers) as a young man in 1984. I trained and worked as a Vehicle Electrician. After leaving the Army I retrained as a Computer repair technician, I then had various jobs as a ‘Field Engineer’ whizzing up and down the UK installing computers, EPOS systems, routers, modems, and various other IT related equipment.
During this time I was developing a passion in my spare time for working with Microcontrollers, and designing simple Autonomous Robots, this ‘hobby’ quickly turned into an obsession. In 2001 I decided to take a course in Electronics at The University of Derby. Starting on a HND course and finishing with a BSc(Hons) 2:1 in Electrical & Electronic Engineering in 2004.
Since then I have been Self Employed as an Electronic Design Engineer, currently designing Embedded electronic control systems to my customers specifications. I work from a home lab, I enjoy all aspects of my work, however, I most enjoy bringing a new board to life after successfully bringing all the aspects of a design together, and finally getting it to work.
Most of my embedded work at the moment involves the use of Microchip PIC Microcontrollers, which I have been using since the PIC16F84, and I am just now starting to work with ARM microcontrollers.
I am always looking out for new challenges, and my dream job would be to be able to work in a team developing a future Mars Rover."
