What're you up to for the holidays?

JoRatcliffe

Hi everyone, I figured I'd create a place where we can all discuss our projects but also chat about the holidays and any plans we have.

Kind of in keeping with the theme of the competition, I'm celebrating Christmas differently this year. I usually spend the holidays with my family in the UK and Christmas is a big operation planned well in advance with a huge Christmas tree etc. This year though I'm spending the holidays with my partner's family in Hong Kong so there's still going to be lots of family time and celebrations, just maybe a different style and a bit more low-key.

Christmas day has toned down since my kids have flown the nest, but there is still a tree and a couple of massive dinner parties, and reconnecting with family. In between all that I will try to catch up…

Welcomed 2 more grandkids to the family this year, and they live close by. Yay ! Spending the holidays spoiling them & teaching them to be naughty.

I've just been invited to my sibling's household for Christmas. I'll travel to the northeast of England and play videogames with my nephews.

I'm in Kentucky, spending thanksgiving with my partner and friends. Christmas and new year we'll do in Belgium.

We're planning a quiet-ish Christmas this year. Last year was a big one - and prompted my Chocolate or Sprouts project - but this is more low key. On the plus side, the reason last year was big was because my mother-in-law was unwell and genuinely thought it might be her last. I'm glad to say that she's still here and doing fine.

New Year though - we're going skiing for the first time in a while and my boys have decided to try snowboarding this time.

I definitely know the feeling of books on my 'to read' list piling up. Holidays are a great time to catch up though!

It took a bit of getting used to, but I've got into audiobooks and I really like how help me make the most of the time when I'm driving, walking round the grocery store etc. Doesn't make my pile of physical books any smaller though Sweat smile

Likewise, I've got into audio podcasts in recent years. I now have about 100GB of 'back catalogue' to work my way through.

The physical book mountain is steadily growing as well.

There are just not enough hours in the day and it's a real pity I didn't have access to more of this stuff when I was around school age.
