Arduino Starter Kit

Well, the Arduino Starter kit I won from  you guys has arrived.
I plan to keep everyone up to date on my progress through the projects in the book accompanying the kit, but progress may be a bit slow as I also plan to use this as a means of introducing my 13 year old granddaughter to electronics and programming.  As she doesn't live with me progress will be dictated by the time she can spend here with me and on her progress.  So this is just a beginning and I will add to this, with photos and video as progress is made along the way.

    This will be my last project this year,
    A: it is getting too hot to sit at a PC or workbench.

    2. Other projects and Christmas etc are calling to me.

     

    You will notice a lot of noise from the weight of the Zoetrope causing the brass bearings of the motor to be stresses and protesting.

    Hello mcb1,

    You are correct, It is unusual for us down here to complain about the heat.  In fact we seem to have an undeserved reputation of being cold and wet, which can be true from time to time.

    However we do have some extremely good spells of weather.  But Friday 1st was, for us, too hot.  In my work/play room it was 29 C and no breeze whatsoever.

    Yesterday was worse, 32 C ans still no breeze.  So by 3:00 pm I gave up and went to the house and blobbed out.

     

    Apparently it is predicted that we are in for a long hot summer.  The hottest that I have seen it here was 39 C.

     

    I also lived in Auckland for 19 years, and while the temperatures rarely got to 30 c, the humidity was horrible, 27 c with approaching 90% humidity is horrible, especially at night.

     

    At lease we are have humidity of under 40% here, so the heat is much more bearable
