CPLD Controlled Door Lock - Soldering the CPLD

I am now in the process of redesigning the circuit to accommodate a larger pin pitch CPLD, since soldering the 100 pin package proved very difficult and I trashed three of them - admittedly I was better each time but I still ripped up tracks, moved pads, etc. etc. So... back to the drawing board.

I would definitely look into SchmartBoard for a 100-pin TQFP: http://schmartboard.com/index.asp?page=products_qfp&id=68 However, see if you can get away with a Xilinx XC9536XL or XC9572XL in a 44-pin PLCC…

However, see if you can get away with a Xilinx XC9536XL or XC9572XL in a 44-pin PLCC. You can even socket those with 0.1" through-hole pins.

Or find a cheap CPLD module that already has the CPLD soldered on and has 0.1" connectors you can adapt, or has room for prototyping the rest of your circuitry.
