It was great to receive a parcel this afternoon from Element14, which I think is for being Influencer of the Year 2019, or maybe E14 is just being nice to me. A nice XXL T shirt as well as an Element14 Breadboard module (some assembly required. Just a little problem with the breadboard in that two of the rubber feet had lost their stickiness so I had to resort to using glue - seems to have worked. I might now try and add a small voltmeter and rechargeablel battery to make a self-contained mobile development module. On first inspection I haven't been able to find any suitable voltmeters so I might have to create something myself.

  • I have a package on the way which I assume will be the same.

     

    Anyone who's into racing will know Castle Donnington. I specifically remember a very hairy moment on a Yamaha YZF750 when I didn't realise that Donnington Circuit wasn't using the Melbourne loop that day and I was on completely the wrong side of the track for the upcoming corner. I did some very scary high speed grass-tracking but just about managed to stay upright.

    I wondered if anyone out there might know Castle Donington from the Race Track, or Airport (East Midlands) or even the Monster Rock Festival.

     

    On race days the village would be in lock down as the roads would be made one way to get all the bikers away from the circuit. We'd have hundreds of motorbikes passing our house. I was young at the time so I thought it was great. We didn't have a car so it didn't make any difference to us.

     

    As for the Airport, I can remember Concorde flying over once - it couldn't land as the runway was too short.

    A few may know Castle Donington from the BBC Radio 1 road shows held there during the 80's.

    I didn't know that they did these shows. I had left home by then and not doing much listening to Radio 1. More listening to the children screaming and hoping it would go quiet soon so I could go back to sleep.

    I think you could probably say the same about what was coming through the radio on the Saturday morning of the road show... "turn that damn radio off... I'm trying to sleep here..."  image
