going insane

I have been racking my brain over the Element14 Easter egg badge. The Title of the badge is gnu overhead so I'm thinking it's got to be something with some type of gnu(free software) cloud based setup and have been searching and searching. unfortunately the only thing that continues to come up is the essentials mcu ii module and im not getting anywhere with that. really wondering what Element14 considers an Easter egg so I would have some type of clue as to what I am looking for.

I felt a little unsure if I should be giving clues, but this thread now pretty much just gives you the answer. It was only after finding it the hard way that I discovered you could just Google the badge…

I see a few people have found it now. It took me a while. It's certainly not my place to give you any big clues, but here are a few tiny hints. The GNU is important but it isn't the same GNU you're thinking…

yep, still driving me insane. just not figuring out what gnu is suppose to mean here and im sure that it would give it away where the easter egg is, but man it is aggravating. I've searched and searched…

sadly enough more than anything I'm trying to figure out what exactly the picture on the badge is, looks to be some type of antenna but have never seen one like that around here, and still completely lost on the gnu thing. so far all I've found is gnu can be an OS, a wildebeest, or gnu radio. Unfortunately i'm one of those "cant forget  it until I figure it out" and I know it has to be simple but I'm just not seeing it. Easter eggs should be something fun or funny (like a megalodon jumping out of the water and eating your helicopter) but I'm just not getting it....

Hehe you're not alone, I don't know it either. But, if you google the name of the badge, you'll see what the reference GNU could refer to image It is something I was not aware of, but I am now!

The other clue David mentioned is another way to reach the same point (or maybe more, but I don't know).

However, after that I can't help further : ) because I'm afraid I don't know any more either.

Have you seen (or read) 'Ready Player One'? If you have not, it is worth seeing. Nice movie, and has lots of easter egg related stuff!  It is not related to this badge so it won't help there, it is just a nice distraction this situation reminded me of.

yeah I have already googled the name of the badge, and that really got me nowhere. as far as the f12 thing, I'm extremely green when it comes to web development and html so setting up the inspect element screen (or even looking at it) is greek to me. (mainly play with python and c/c++ for arduinos and pis and the like) so yeah unfortunately I am completely lost, and unfortunately also I am not a movie watcher (can't stand to sit there to watch a story that I usually have figured out in the first ten minutes) so no haven't seen that one, and probably would go even more insane trying to sit through it, no offense. anyways thank you for your input and good luck to you figuring it out, maybe one of us will. as a side not do you have any clue what the pic in the badge is???

    Hi Benjamin,

I see it in the first few results by googling the name. The picture in the badge is related to the thing you'll see by then googling the result from google.

It's like if the pic was a ring and the title was Smeagol, then you'd need to google the result (The Hobbit) to read up about the Smeagol, to learn about the ring. On it's own, a pic of a ring wouldn't mean much. But once you read up about the Hobbit, then the ring becomes clear.

Now I feel like watching Lord of the Rings..

so we are pretty much saying that this egg (whatever it is) has to do with the telegraph towers in a fictional book by an author that had a cult following and we would need to know all about that to really figure this one out?? Im going to guess that the clacks are all around us....

Yes but when you wear the ring you disappear from view ... so that clue is missing.

I've found a few others without the use of developer options.

Although I'm not sure if that is the right page or not.

Perhaps I'll message cstanton and we'll see.
