My Project

Let me introduce myself. Name is Mark and I am just embarking on a PhD at the University of Portsmouth looking at smart homes and how they can provide care and monitoring for vulnerable adults. I am looking at using the

  • Arduino Uno
  • Arduino Mega
  • Beaglebone Black (Rev C)
  • Raspberry Pi B+

to do so. I am not sure what combination of kit I am going to use, some bits might be hopeless at some tasks but perfect for others so it might be a mixture of all or maybe a single bit of kit will be fine. I have three years to find out.

I am going to be blogging about the Beaglebone Black, (BBB from now on as I am lazy), the Arduino and the Pi in the correct groups so anyone interested in progress in other boards check out the various areas.

That's all for now, just want to say hi and give a basic into as to my ideas, all and any advice will be looked at and considered and anything that gets me trips to conferences abroad will be most appreciated

    Thanks. I will take a look. I sort of think of the BBB as the RasPi on steroids. I like the flash capability and the USB connectivity on the BBB but of course the Pi was the earlier machine so has a special place in a lot of people's hearts.
