Schematic of the Build

So here's a schematic of the build. I'm not sure I made the schematic very accurate when it came to the relay since on the schematic I was confused as to the purpose of each connection. In real life, I have the relay powered off of the 5 volt converter, and pin 8 on the Nano controlling it. I have the ground for the solenoid running through the relay.

Any questions/ideas why the arduino is acting funny (see last post)?

As drawn, the NC contact of your relay appears to short out your +5v rail from the voltage regulator. However, presumably you are still using the opto-isolated relay board.

I made this schmatic at almost midnight so definitely made a bit of a mess. I'll make some changes here

Actually, I still do know how that relay is supposed to look here. It is hooked up properly, though.

Normally you would either draw the relay board as a box component showing just the connections to the relay board (and refer people to a separate schematic for the actual components on the relay board), or if it is a simple circuit then include the schematic of the relay board and draw a dashed line around it to indicate that it is a separate self-contained circuit.
