Hey all, I recently picked up one of these just to compare it to the Droid and see what the differences would be between the devices. The Droid running the newest Android OS and the Backflip running the 1.5 version. So the Motorola Backflip….I was a bit skeptical when I got it just because of the design of the device and its size. Compared to the phones I use the screen is definately alot smaller than I’m used to. Now if you haven’t figured out already I’m not one to go quoting all the tech specs and stuff here, I feel time is better spent on true functionality and hands on reviews of what it does and does not do and how I find it on a scale of wow I’m impressed or damn what a let down, you know what I mean right. So lets get started. It backflips less the name. The Backlip feels nice and solid in your hands. The screen is a bit smaller than I’m used to and I wish it was larger but it does the job for what its worth. This phone is truly a social networking work of art. If you are into Twitter, Facebook and the like this device is definately for you. It alows you, through widgets on the (5) yes you read it right… 5 flip through screens to set up all your social connections so they are right at your fingertips with just a swipe of your finger. You can also get widgets for the weather, news updates etc…etc..whatever you might need for all your social networking to be a breeze. It of course has Google sync along with the ability to sync all of your social accounts. Then whats nice is the notifications are recieved at the top of the phones screen and can be seen with a downward swipe of your finger for you to open, close or delete. Makes it very easy to respond to all your notifications quickly and easily. It has wifi and bluetooth as well and both of those options work great. It also has GPS built in and has mini sdcard memory storage. I have 16gb in mine right now and it is working flawlessly. The USB computer link opens Motorola Media Link on your computer and easily allows you to transfer music, pics, videos and such between your phone and computer. You also have the option to treat the phone as another mass storage device and just drag and drop your files to it’s folder as well, your choice. Oh and I also forgot to mention that it has a built in still and video camera that when the device is closed faces outward and then when you open the device it faces twords you for all your personal video sessions and such. It also comes with a built in flash and has geo tagging of course. You can also immediately have your pics or videos uploaded to your favorite social sites as well via Android Market Apps. Now theres one more feature I have to list and thats battery life. For as much as this phone does the battery life is amazing. I have to charge it every night, but it is rare that I have to recharge it during the day and I am on it alot on and off throughout the day. If you just had it on standby and didnt use the device you would get almost a full 5-7 days out of a full charge, no complaints here at all. The Android 1.5 software works great and gives you the widgets, customization and Android Market of course where you can grab all your apps. The phone is on the ATT network and I have personally never had a problem connecting within the Philadelphia area. Over all when I got this phone I thought I would check it out for a few days and then resell it after reviewing it but for some reason I can’t put the damn thing down. I take it everywhere with me as a second phone to my 32gb Iphone 3gs and am always finding myself using it to make all my social site updates, reading email, watching you tube videos, uploading photos and reading my friends as well. It just makes it so easy to do your social networking I never leave home without it. To wrap it all up, for social networking this phone is a must get. Its simple to use easy to setup and makes all of your social networking duties a snap. And at a cost of $99 its definately a steal. The only downside I could possibly see to the device is that I wish it had a larger screen. But like I said before its still manageable and wouldn’t stop me from making a purchase. Have a geat day all, Shawn
