After seeing the blog post What makes an office smart? I decided that I should give Snips a try. I have multiple Echo devices in my house and I have also tried Google (AIY Voice kit) but there are some circumstances where it is beneficial to keep voice interaction/control on the local network. I currently use Alexa for voice control of a pan/tilt outdoor security IPcamera. I'd like to retain this capability even if the Internet connection is down (I record on a local NVR so that isn't a problem). I'm using voice to position the camera and want to add more functionality.
I don't have a Matrix Creator so I'm going to use a 2 microphone ReSpeaker Hat from Seeed as my audio interface with a Raspberry Pi A+. If that works well I may also try using the Voice Hat from the AIY kit.
Here are the components that I'll be using. I will need to design and 3D print a case.
