In today's world of planned obsolescence of consumer electronics products, I am always delighted when I'm able to use something well past its expected expiration date. It took me a long time to swap out all of my CRTs (TVs, monitors, oscilloscopes) because they were all still functioning but that's another story...... I bought a Nintendo Wii back in March of 2009 and it's been reminding me lately that I'm nearing a milestone of 4000 days since I started using it. I've played a few games on it but my primary purpose was to use it with their fitness program, Wii Fit Plus, that uses a balance board and the handheld remote to monitor fitness and do exercises. I've used it daily whenever I'm at home and it still works like new. I have added an HDMI adapter cable to interface to the new TV. I thought I'd take a moment to celebrate its longevity as I'm not sure that it will get to 5000 days.

When I bought the Wii I was still working and I was 25 lbs heavier and had an unhealthy BMI. I think the fitness tracking and exercise helped me to lose about 10 lbs but retirement and the granddog are what got me to my current weight. I've been able to maintain my current weight for the past 5 years. I can still manage to score a Wii Fit Age of 20 most of the time. I hope the Wii will last well beyond 5000 days as I still enjoy using it daily. They stopped making these in 2013 and also stopped making its successor, the Wii U, in 2017. If I needed to replace it today I'd need to get a Nintendo Switch.
