Now that migration is over, we're back to our monthly releases, and sharing some information about what we've updated. Here are some of the fixes we've made in the first few releases since the start of the year.
We've updated the login interface — you can now log into the site using either your username or your email address.
We've also added a widget to show metrics on individual pieces of content.
We know people were frustrated by not being able to easily find the views/likes/interaction data for their content, so we've added this new widget to address that; you'll see it on the left-hand side of most pieces of content in the future. (And we've already fixed a bug where the "Bookmarks" count was stuck at 20!) We also tweaked the "Recent Content" widget on the homepage, which wasn't showing the correct view counts for some types of content, just staying stuck at 0.
We've made some small, but hopefully useful, style changes. First, we've increased the overall font size for easier readability:
Before | After |
We've made some other styling and quality-of-life tweaks as well, like making links more visible, the appearance of Design Challenge search results, updating wording on webinar buttons to make it clearer what they do, and Featured Search results appearing when they shouldn't.
We've fixed some issues with your profile area, first addressing a bug that caused your Bookmarks list to be empty, and also making some changes to how achievements are displayed, so the full list of everything you've earned will show up, instead of cutting off after 100.
Some users were encountering an issue where editing a blog post resulted in that post being sent to the moderation queue, supposedly because it contained Chinese characters (even when it didn't!). We've made some changes to the range of characters that will trigger moderation review, as well as behavior after approval, so that a piece of content that's reviewed by a moderator and approved won't go into moderation again. Also, for users whose language is set to Chinese, the "Recent Content" widgets were showing up as empty, so we've fixed this. We also addressed an issue where Chinese-language users were getting login errors.
We made some improvements to RoadTests, as well, like an erroneous message about the RoadTest not being available in your country when trying to sign up as a guest and users being unable to add tags to their reviews. We've also added a widget on RoadTests that will show all the products included in the RoadTest kit. The latter was a feature on our old site, but took a little more time to implement in the new environment. And we've updated RoadTest forms so that you can now edit your submission right up until the close date.
We also heard from some users that, when they attempted to attach files to content (blog posts, for instance), those attachments were being emailed to them along with notifications. We've now fixed this, and your attachments should stay on the web, where they belong.
We've also made a number of behind-the-scenes fixes and improvements to try and make things run a little more smoothly.
We appreciate your feedback and suggestions posted her in the Feedback & Support area! We will continue to do our best to improve the site and make it the best experience possible for all of our members.
