Hi Everyone.
As you've probably noticed, we've upgraded the element14 community. After months of preparation, we're thrilled to see the changes go live. Despite our best efforts to make this as smooth as possible, I know some of you have had difficulty getting certain parts of our site to work. We'd like to let you know what we're doing to address this.
Our Commitment to Resolving Issues and Questions:
We are working very hard to fix any issues that you've reported to us. You can keep track of these issues as well our progress in address them in the “Known Issues” document found on Feedback & Support. We will be updating this on a regular basis so you can see what we're doing. Despite our best efforts, we know that some of the functionality we've rolled out may not have been as intuitive as we'd hoped. We'll be providing tutorials and FAQs to help explain these areas more clearly. We will also continue to answer questions in Feedback and Support as quickly as possible.
We'd like to address a couple of questions you've asked about the upgrade.
Why does the website look so different now?
The community runs on a software platform called Jive. The changes you notice are because we just upgraded from version 4.5 to version 6.
Why did we upgrade?
Mainly to make it easier-- to connect and collaborate with fellow members, and to find great new content. The new site provides a more efficient way to interact with each other while highlighting the technologies, topics, and conversations that matter to you the most. A lot of the new functionality-- like @mentions and Streams --has been added for this reason. This new platform also makes it easier for us to integrate your suggestions for element14 into subsequent updates.
Was Testing Done Prior to Go Live?
Quality assurance, user experience and functional testing were all conducted in the weeks and months leading up to the release. But despite our best efforts, we discovered some issues after the release that we're now working hard to fix.
Over the last week we have seen members helping each other-- from letting them know where their discussion post may be found, to helping each other navigate the new look-and-feel of the site. We're really grateful to have such an awesome community here on element14. We'll be making fixes and adding new tutorials to the site over the next few weeks, so please stay tuned!
Thanks again for your patience,
Sagar Jethani
