Our second site update of 2025 is due for deployment on the 17th September 08:00 BST, and will take approximately 2-3 hours to complete.
There are around 100 deliverables in this release, with the ones we believe you'll be most interested in listed below;
- We switched out our search provider last week (11th Sept) and are hosting this ourselves in a new Kubernettes cluster. Search should perform better than before, and we're looking at tweaking things further to hopefully make it even faster in the coming months.
- Achievements that are embedded in content have an updated UI, making it more obvious which ones you've completed, and which are still to do, e.g.
- The table of contents we used to show in a panel on the left side of RoadTests, RoadTest Reviews, Design Challenges and DevTools is now a floating drop-down box. This gives more room for the content on smaller screens, and matches what a lot of sites are doing these days for jumping around large pieces of content. We used to only show this drop-down when the screen was narrower than ~700px.
- 16x fixes and improvements to RoadTest and Design Challenges.
- Added a link to emails that routes directly to your subscriptions / notification settings.
- Improved UI for your draft content shown in the tabbed content widget;
- Links in content to the Web Archive can be posted without them breaking.
- Cancelled events won't show in the upcoming Events panel, nor will the countdown be displayed.
Our 2025-3 release will be out in a few months, so if there's anything you'd like to see improved, or you spot any bugs, please let us know & we'll look into it.
