Upcoming Site Maintenance 3rd June :: Release 2025-1

Matt
Matt
27 May 2025

Our first site update of 2025 is due for deployment on the 3rd June 09:00 UTC, and will take approximately 2-3 hours to complete. It's a big release since we're also upgrading platform versions from v12.1.5 to 12.1.8. For those of you who are interested, the Verint release notes are here.

It's worth noting that due to a cookie format change members will need to re-authenticate after the update.

We have a tonne of improvements and bug fixes. Out of the ~240 deliverables there are plenty that are less obvious, won't impact you directly, or affect things behind the scenes. I'll list out the ones I believe you'll be most interested in.

  • The tabbed content list that appears on your profile now shows your draft content (just to you, not other members).

  • Quizzes now support multiple textboxes.
  • You'll now receive more points for attending webinars.. who doesn't like more points!
  • Content created for a Design Challenge now auto-inherits any tags from the Design Challenge itself, making it easier for us to show content for just that challenge in lists around the site, or for you to be able to find it.
  • Members who have signed up for Design Challenge notifications will now receive them.
  • Fixed RoadTest Reviews showing an incorrect avatar in the Activity list.
  • Fixed widgets (including search results) showing invalid data for some RoadTest Reviews
  • Bunch of UI improvements for RoadTests, including this change to the Enrollment box, which we think really helps with usability;

  • The profile fields on RoadTest entry form have been disabled & pull directly from your main profile. We've improved the flow for this so you can get your information right before you start to enrol.
  • Clicking the pagination links on the Leaderboard widget no longer does a full page reload, making it a lot faster to use.
  • Multiple behind-the-scenes changes to stop Friend Requests being an avenue for spammers.
  • Multiple improvements to help us with site administration, publishing, anti-spam, etc.
  • Fix where you were unable to save an update to a blog post in a Private group that contained an embedded poll
  • Fixed where the 'More' buttons weren't working properly when there were mutiple instances of the same widget type on a page, like in the Arduino Projects group.

We're hoping to get our 2025-2 release out in a few months, so if there's anything you'd like to see imporoved, or you spot any bugs, please let us know & we'll look into it.

Many thanks!

    Thanks for the update on the update. Slight smile

    I don't recall seeing that happening prior to the update though.

    There is another related issue in that some of the comment replies don't display at all. I've noticed it occurring a few times recently in that thread as if sections have been rolled-up but the 'view more' buttons required to expand it are missing.

    'Complex thread' management tools would be a nice feature to have available. When you have an active conversation that starts to sprout tentacles heading off in multiple directions, then it would be nice to be able to move them to separate discussions and automatically link back to where they originated from for context.

    For example, this section has now invoked enough interest for it to become its own post:

    /members-area/b/blog/posts/monitoring-bees-in-oregon-2025?CommentId=f59d18c1-26fe-4e61-b84a-8d72d23fec17

    however at the time I commented, I wasn't expecting it to do so.

    The platform vendor said;

    "The linked comment, nested 3 levels deep, has many replies in its same level, causing a “view more” link. However, its parent and grandparent also have more replies in their respective levels past their thresholds, so they can be expanded further. This is a side effect of directly linking to a deeply nested reply."

    So it's not quite a bug, but a side-effect of a complex thread. However, I've asked them to pass this by their UX team to see whether the display could be improved in a future release, and said it's currently confusing the way it's presented.

    For the reply order issue, I'll wait a week or so until we copy the data down into our Staging envrionment & test it out there to see if there's another issue.

    I'm seeing another possibly related issue here.

    My comment is appearing above the comment I'm replying to.

    e.g.

    /members-area/b/blog/posts/monitoring-bees-in-oregon-2025?CommentId=4f6d9536-a908-45fd-a8b3-947d08fb817f

    is in response to:
