2022 Holiday Wishlist

The Holiday Season is here once again! Once again, we've put together a Wishlist of products that might make good gifts for engineers or makers.

This year, we've broken them down into separate lists, with a handful of items in each. However, the lists overlap. For example, a soldering iron appears in the Maker's Wishlist, but an EE Student needs one as well. Likewise, makers (and home automation, robotics, and Pi/Arduino users) would probably love to get some of the Pi/Arduino kits that appear in the EE Student's Wishlist. The only solution is to read them all!

Happy Holidays from all of us at Element14!

What To Buy an Electrical Engineering Student for the Holidays

For the EE students this year, we're focusing on Single Board Computers, like the Raspberry Pi and Arduino. These starter kits come with all the necessary parts to learn how to design with SBCs. For more SBC information, check out our Arduino and Raspberry Pi wishlists below.

Of course, EE Students also need tools and test equipment. For those, scroll down to our Makers and PCB Prototyping Wishlists.

Gluestick

During printing, the print should be securely fixed to the build plate. Glue works well for this (and is less messy than hairspray).

There are several different types of robots: robot arms, roving robots on wheels, underwater robots, unmanned drones, you name it! The parts in this wishlist are common to many types of robots. There should also be something that controls the robot, so hop on up to our Arduino and Raspberry Pi wishlists for kits that help build the robot's brains.

The item mentioned as "Servo Motor" (manufacturer code 412, farnell code 2816374) is not servo motor. It is push/pull solenoid. It is the thing which I used in my project Duratool Cabinet Storage Box Upgrade…

That is a great list of e goodies, maybe missing side cutters. The 2 modules I wish I had are Pi Zero 2W and Pi Pico W, so they would be good for a student as well.

Good suggestions, the original Raspberry Pi Pico is pretty good selection too. I really like having 2 i2c ports.

I had also got a pair of flush cutters in a road test package and really use it alot, its stays really sharp.  https://www.newark.com/multicomp-pro/mp700397/wire-cutter-flush-1-6mm-130mm/dp/37AJ4437
