The Holiday Season is here once again! Once again, we've put together a Wishlist of products that might make good gifts for engineers or makers.
This year, we've broken them down into separate lists, with a handful of items in each. However, the lists overlap. For example, a soldering iron appears in the Maker's Wishlist, but an EE Student needs one as well. Likewise, makers (and home automation, robotics, and Pi/Arduino users) would probably love to get some of the Pi/Arduino kits that appear in the EE Student's Wishlist. The only solution is to read them all!
Happy Holidays from all of us at Element14!

What To Buy an Electrical Engineering Student for the Holidays
For the EE students this year, we're focusing on Single Board Computers, like the Raspberry Pi and Arduino. These starter kits come with all the necessary parts to learn how to design with SBCs. For more SBC information, check out our Arduino and Raspberry Pi wishlists below.
Of course, EE Students also need tools and test equipment. For those, scroll down to our Makers and PCB Prototyping Wishlists.

3D Printing Holiday Wishlist
Creality CR-10 MAX
Ultimaker S3
Nozzle Pack
The nozzles in many 3D printers are interchangeable, letting you customize them. Just make sure they're compatible! This set is for Ultimaker 3D printers.
Gluestick
During printing, the print should be securely fixed to the build plate. Glue works well for this (and is less messy than hairspray).
3D Printer Filament
Edge Trimming Tool
Getting Started with Raspberry Pi
A Raspberry Pi is a low cost and versatile SBC, with a variety of accessories allowing you to design pretty much anything! If you're just starting out with Pi, check out some of the development kits listed in the EE Students wishlist.

Getting Started with Robotics
There are several different types of robots: robot arms, roving robots on wheels, underwater robots, unmanned drones, you name it! The parts in this wishlist are common to many types of robots. There should also be something that controls the robot, so hop on up to our Arduino and Raspberry Pi wishlists for kits that help build the robot's brains.
Motor/Stepper/Servo Shield for Arduino
Stepper Motor
PWM/Servo HAT for Raspberry Pi
Push/Pull Solenoid
Robot Arm Kit
Joystick (Hall Effect Switch)
3-Axis Accelerometer for Arduino
Pressure Sensor Module for Arduino
Time of Flight Distance Sensor, Arduino & Raspberry Pi
Getting Started with Home Automation
The future is here, you just have to build it! Home automation encompasses a lot of things, including climate control, automated gardening, security, lighting and more. SBCs work perfectly to control everything, so check out our Raspberry Pi and Arduino wishlists above for development kits and accessories.
