One of the best gifts of all time was a 1970s Radio Shack Electronics kit ! I had also been gifted an AM/FM/shortwave radio. I was hooked, got my ham ticket and went off to university for my EE degree…

Probably the best gift we've given was a golf cart for my wife's father. He has knee troubles and we thought this would make it easier for him to get around his acreage. He wasn't really interested when…

My go-to gift would be a good quality screwdriver set and a soldering kit. As students, my friends and me would like to explore what is inside any electronic product, like a RC car, tv remote, mobile phone, laptop etc. So I am sure as a student this gift would be a great start for our exploration.

Oh. can I make a new comment?

Well, my go to gift for hobbyists would still be depending on thier skill level, an UNO kit, to a pi kit, to a FPGA.

Most recently I received a gift from a friend, some 22AWG wire(a lot!) and a 4 channel relay. They didn't know much about electronics but all I can say is, that gift sure saved my 1 Meter of Pi project.

I just purchased a rpi4 desktop kit for my young nephew. I know he'll be a bit too young right now, but he will need a computer for school soon enough and he will be able to grow and learn with it, if he becomes interested then he will be able to discover the wonderful world of small computers and Linux!

This year as Christmas present, I gifted my friend some small presents. All these presents were ones he could use in day to day life, so yeah. The hamper includes a clock, a Amazon Fire Tab, a comfortable gaming chair and a set of screw driver and bits. Now my friend has an unique problem related to sleeping. Well actually, the ticking sound from clocks are disturbing from him and at times things go so worse that he either does not sleep for a few days at home or he throws away all the watches and clocks. So this Christmas, I gifted him a quartz clock with Japanese tech that does not make sound! Now, another problem with my friend is that his back pains a lot due to bad posture. This bad posture is then accompanied by neck pain because he watches Netflix and Amazon Prime shows on his phone! So then, I gifted him a comfortable gaming chair with very smooth hydraulics and an Amazon Fire HD 10 Tab to watch his shows on HD screens. Amazon Fire Tab also allow them to connect to fire sticks which he already had so it was a double decker profit. Now, engineers especially engineers of my age group have an habit to explore what is beneath those weird looking screws. My friend has same habit but he did not have right equipment so I also gifted him a set of Screwdriver and various bits. Now, he can open as many screws as he wants!
I am hereby attaching link to all these products:
    Ajanta Quartz Clock
    Amazon Fire HD 10
    Gaming Chair
    Screwdriver and Bit Set

All I wish for this festival season is to win this giveaway as my parents will pay for anything except Raspberry Pi, idk why. I am requesting them for one since launch of Raspberry Pi 3 and now even Pi 400 is out image

Us electricians are always in need of a good torch and a headlamp is appreciated even more. This little beauty, the Nova H2R from Olight makes a perfect present.

On the receiving end, I got a little Sterling Engine from the family. I can spend way too much time watching this.

I agree it is a very good kit, which I was lucky enough to test out for Element14 Element14's Arduino Starter Kit Competition - F... | element14 | Rod . There were a few things I wasn't happy about and which could have annoyed a beginner - mainly the short component leads and/or the breadboard quality, which led to the circuit literally falling apart. Did you find the same breadboard problem with your kit ?

I gave a friend one of those cheap "beginner Arduino electronics" kits, you know the ones with a bunch of LEDs, motors, resistors, etc. He got the bug and built a simple clock which ended up with WiFi control, rechargable lipo, RGB LEDs, and God knows what else he bolted to it! He's still making, 3d printing, and designing. Was well worth the £30 I paid for it.
