One of the best gifts of all time was a 1970s Radio Shack Electronics kit ! I had also been gifted an AM/FM/shortwave radio. I was hooked, got my ham ticket and went off to university for my EE degree…

I have never tried that one, but am very satisfied with the Weidmüller Stripax (https://www.elfadistrelec.no/no/avisoleringstang-mm-190-mm-weidmueller-9005000000/p/18051908?channel=b2c&price_gs=1058.9125&source=googleps&ext_cid=shgooaqnono-blcss&kw=%7Bkeyword%7D&ext_cid=shgooaqnono-P-CSS-Shopping-NGRAM&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqffeq7_U7QIVQ_iyCh1bFgSHEAQYASABEgKCFPD_BwEhttp://) i use at work and the Knipex Wire Stripper i use at home (https://no.rs-online.com/web/p/wire-strippers/1585524/?cm_mmc=NO-PLA-DS3A-_-google-_-CSS_NO_NO_Hand_Tools_Whoop-_-(NO:Whoop%21)+Wire+Strippers-_-1585524&matchtype=&pla-333222634462&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8PeTrr7U7QIVi94YCh37xw5_EAQYAyABEgK7v_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.dshttp://). Torque wrench yes!

I changed the tires on my car from summer set to winter for close to 30 years. Ihen I got a gift certificate to an automotive store. I purchased a three foot torque wrench with a similar length breaker bar.

I could not believe how the application of physic made the job so much easier. Wow. I wish I had of discovered the miracle of science 30 years ago.

My goto gift for any aspiring engineer, especially interested in learning embedded systems, would be an affordable, low cost, easy to understand and operate development board.

From my university, I received a TI Piccolo development board as gift. I'm using it for my projects.

For anyone who wants to learn more about single board computers, Raspberry Pi is the ultimate start.

Through this competition, I'd love to win a Raspberry Pi kit which will help me to further enhance my knowledge and understanding of digital computing.

My go to gift for any young maker or inspiring engineer would be the raspberry pi zero, zero w, adruino uno and adruino nano. Two of my 4 kids got some for Christmas last year and was totally thrilled. As for me... I'd have to say that the best gift i ever received was my raspberry pi 3b. So 5 years ago in March we lost our house to a fire. Which lead myself into a good depression and a deep dark hole of substance abuse for the first year or so following the fire. My wife bought me the raspberry pi 3b for Christmas around two years afterwards. With the countless possibilities of the pi, it helped to pull me out of the abyss. Since then my pi 3b has gone into my 3d printer that I got for myself last Christmas. Ever since receiving the raspberry I have been fascinated with all the things we can do.

For a story, my son I really appreciated the AIY kit and book that our own @shabaz sent us a few years ago. Jan Cumps was kind enough to send me a EEVBlog DMM a few years ago which I still use, Robert Peter Oakes shared his lab tools with me when I first came to Canada and of-course, @spannerspencer from Element14 for sending us a dozen soldering stations a few years ago which we used to help students in India get started with electronics.

I appreciate the support and love the Element14 community has provided over the years which has helped me grow.

For my maker gifts, I recently handed off my BBC Microbits BBC Microbits to my 4 year old. Last year, we did a few projects including the DIY Remote Car.
