Is maker activity a seasonal endeavor?

Do you concentrate your maker activities at specific times of the year? Why?

Or you can explain in the comments at what times it is just not possible to get involved in projects.

If you comment, try to include the amount of time you try to spend on making each year.

I am constantly building or salvaging. Since the pile of parts keeps getting higher I must be destroying more things than I am building. John

My projects come in spurts as my health issues let me play. Always have something to do. DAB

While I can work/make things all during the year, Seasons definitely impact. Holidays can spike creativity for some things like Halloween, Christmas, 4th of July, etc... Spring can make you think about…

In the winter, you are typically holed up in the house/in-doors.  Spring/summer/fall there is a lot of things to do outside.

    Hi Dustin,

I like your last comment about the maker bug and how it seizes a person. I am sure this rings a bell with most of the guys on the forum.

I am a workaholic / gamer. I work in a coal mine running giant Tonka toys, and when at home I'm either playing video games board games or role playing games, when my wife let's me. But every now and then, I just want to make something! The last major project I took on was a euro 6-in-1 chainmaille vest. ( took me 2 years and it weighs 70lbs) This time I want to make a handheld retro console. I always find a community of people who are interested in similar things to what I want to do and look for similar builds or help with mine when I can't figure things out.

A little too much info maybe, but for me it's not so Mich seasonal, as whenever I get bitten by the maker bug, I go nuts!

    Through destruction comes understanding.

The more you learn, the better you can make.

When you destroy stuff you're probably getting valuable learning about what not to do next time so don't be sad about the pile of dud's!

The amount of really great stuff you get finished and blog on here is amazing so you're having quite a lot of successes too! image
