I didn't even realise you could layout a PCB in Fritzing, but it seems you can. This Hackaday article gives a run down of using it. You can probably tell from the title, they weren't a fan compared to the alternatives. The series gave a nice overview of the available tools.
How I used Fritzing, is not a fair assessment of the software.
I had a PCB board layout from eagle but couldn't extract the content. I used Fritizing to hand-bomb the traces on a board the correct dimensions. For those old enough to remember, it was similar to manually masking out traces on a copper board using the drafting tape (you forget things after 30 years). Fritzing took care of the component sizes for hole spacing. The few times I tried to use the software to generate the traces, it made connection to points I found in error.
I had hoped to reverse engineer the schematic from the layout but that failed miserably.
I deployed Fritizing from a package using the GUI package management tool on Ubuntu 18.04. The way I used Fritizing is not an evaluation of its capabilities. I needed a board masked. The board wasn't complicated, so using the software to create a two sided board without manual tool was easier.
