Favourite Fictional Female Engineer

We're celebrating all of the fantastic feats of female engineers around the world with International Women In Engineering Day 2020 coming up...And that got us thinking about our favorite female engineers in fiction!

There was a comment on the post of our #Badass Women Engineers Winner Announcement about the scene in Avengers Endgame where all of the female characters assembled, which seemed an apt comparison to the list we've come up with image

So we want to know who is your Favorite Fictional Female Engineer! You can vote on our list or add your own in the comments! image

Yoko Tsuno, my all-time favorite heroine and electrical engineer, usually both at the same time. ^_^ From the list in the poll above, I'd have to say B'Elanna, but this is definitely the 'Other'.

There are so many.....Dax from Star Trek DS9, and 7 of 9 from Voyager, Samantha Carter from Stargate SG-1, depends on your definition of Engineer.

Shuri from Black Panther is my favorite.

From this list, Kaylee is hands-down my favorite.

I also like B`Elanna because she called out the captain on the "okay you have half that time" after asking how long something will take. (One of my biggest pet peeves about engineers portrayed in fiction. We are not all Scotty and inflating our time tables.)

I'm going to go with Wilma Deering from the earliest Buck Rogers comic strips (1920s), back when the heroes flew biplanes and a Mongol Raider was a type of dirigible.  When Wilma meets Buck, she describes herself as an electronist, which I think is a dandy term for someone who practices electronics.  Wilma evolved into a more decorative role.  The 1920s Wilma was a free-thinking independent woman, recently granted the right to vote and ready to take on the world on her own terms.

Some people certainly confuse the sciences with engineering, however they're not the same, though similar image

Jadzia Dax was the station's Chief Science Officer, not an engineer.

However since Dax is the symbiont, Tobin Dax was a Trill Engineer.

It's been a while, but I don't recall Dax (Jadzia, right?) being an engineer specifically....?
