Arduino mini arcade cabinet

I want to introduce a tiny arcade cabinet (14cm heigth) based on the Arduino. The arcade is also full compatible to the Gamebuino - an Arduino based game console. The Arcade game is equipped with a ATMEGA328 and the screen of the game has been provided by a Nokia 5110 LCD. A couple of Open Source games for the Gamebuino and so also for this Arcade cabinet are available - programmed under the Arduino IDE... Check my website for more information.

    Almost yes. To make an arcade container in a scale (based on experience only it will be 1:1.5 or 1:2 max respect the Arduino version) and not doing a bad one I need to find the right measures for the proportion. I think.

     

    Finally today by the end of day I had time for a decent search ...

     

    First of all I see that in JSMame format there is an incredible quantity of original arcade games in the Internet Archive https://archive.org/details/internetarcade

    Then it is almost easy to find a good detailed reference to create a scaled design of an original arcade, with some interesting customisations:

  • Do you mean with 'arcade container' a finished arcade enclosure from any other source?

    I agree, I have used only CNC to make almost all, not only cases but also PCB first prototype for testing (thin copper), vacuum chambers (PVC and Nylon), mechanical components and support (Aluminium), test cases (compact plastic), SMD components testing (Acrylic) and more. For the mass production - or also for small production series - I try to find the cheapest and less time consuming way. It was a revelation the laser cutting for most of the applications related to cases and 3D printing for some mechanical components. With all the three options I always try to see what is the best solution also considering how easily is finding material and the process time. With CNC the problems in this specific situation I think it is the process time and the amount of material that should be removed starting from a full material block instead of laser cutting just the pieces. As a matter of fact a miniature case is a replica of the biggest one IMHO it is helpful to see the construction building of the originals: 3 cm thick plywood of MDF plastic plated; the most similar approach in a reduced scale is acrylic and laser cutting. I think that the dramatic reduction of the machining time and the optimisation of the used material will definitely pay the choice.

     

    What do you think ? BTW, to you have idea if somewhere it is possible to find the sizes of an arcade container ?

    yes cnc milling is a little bit more expensive but you can mill much more different materials for example PVC....

    Hi,

     

    Why a CNC ? Is not too complex? I have and use by years a CNC machine, but  It is more expensive in my opinion. Please consider that I have never had in my hands one of these enclosures.
