Fast Track to Arduino Programming - Lesson 4b, How to use an Ethernet Shield with a WEB page

Link back to main menu Fast Track to Arduino Programming

link to lesson 4a incase you missed it image : Fast Track to Arduino Programming - Lesson 4a, Ethernet input and response test console

In lesson 4a we reviewed the HTML based console that was to be used throughout lesson 4, this was so you are prepared to follow through the lesson without worrying about how other none Arduino parts work, now I will present the main video that will walk you through the sketch, identifying the changes from the previous lesson and explaining the operation of the added code.

this is a long video, close to an hour but I wanted to be thorough and not miss out key parts.

The sketch and HTML page are provided in lesson 4a here: Fast Track to Arduino Programming - Lesson 4a, Ethernet input and response test console

and to follow up with how to change the settings of the web page and a brief description as to how it works, see this

feel free to take my code etc if you wish and do the same, or other things with it, you clearly have a knack for the HTML side of things, I can make stuff work but lack the nice design skills to make them look really good.

Good question and a simple answer... That's the next lesson.

I am slowly building up a set of functionality for the community members following this tutorial set. We have not go to the SD card yet, that is the very next tutorial. This one was specifically about interfacing with the Ethernet card and I used a web page as a console as it is easy to understand and nicer than a command line, I also did not want to complicate it with where the web page was. Simpler to have it on the local machine. all future ones it will be on an SD card (I will add a modified version of your HTML page if you ok with that, it will compliment the Gauge version nicely)

    Hi Peter,

Nice project! I have a doubt. Why are you keeping the HTML file in local PC? Why can't you rather store it in an SD card and put it on arduino? I think most of the ethernet shields comes with an SD card slot.
