Howdy,
With Valentine's Day approaching I thought I'd point out a few Arduino-based projects close to my heat (so to speak):
Heart Spark: http://sensebridge.net/projects/heart-spark/
a heart-shaped pendant which flashes little lights (light emitting diodes, LEDs) in time with your heart beat. A polar chest strap with transmitter (sold separately, see more information below) is used to measure your heart beat, which is transmitted wirelessly to the pendant.
I bought this last year for Valentine's day and was very impressed. I'm building my own version this year which will log to SD card and display heart beats on the Open Heart:

The Open Heart is an LED matrix of individually addressable LEDs. It can be used to create a broach or bag light with highly customizable animations.
It is easy to assemble and comes with a nice web-based utility to make your own animations which I posted about last week.
Ben Heck's Tweeting Heart: http://www.element14.com/community/docs/DOC-42514/l/episode-35-see-ben-build-a-tweeting-heart
I just watched Ben's latest episode where he builds a nifty Arduino-powered LED matrix which displays tweets inside a heart shaped box. There is a contest right now to win the project:

What Arduino projects are "close to your heart"?
Cheers,
Drew
