One Wire temp Question

Former Member
Former Member over 12 years ago

Hey all, im new to arduino, excited and ready to get roaing into my projects, but im a little stuck at the moment.

Using the dallas temp sensors ds18b20, i want to display the output on an lcd screen, which seems fine however i dont want for example :

35.xx , i only require the main temp 35 not requiring the display of the decimal point, is there any way for me to configure this ?

please keep in mind im pretty new to all the code, so im trying to get my head around that.

    as a simple measure without getting into casts etc, use the printf function or sprintf found in STDIO.H or printf.h

    printf("'%.2f'", 10.3456); // prints to two decimal places (10.35)

    printf("'%.0f'", 10.3456); // prints to no decimal places (10)

    or

    char str[] = "hello this is my current buffer with this string in it";

    sprintf(str, "Happy New Year: %s ", stringtoinsert); // inserts string into buffer "str" at the place indicated by %s

    then you can use the str variable to print like this

    Serial.print(str);

    or LCD.print(str);

    as you can see more flexible than the printf() which only prints to console

    there both formatting directives, the printf directly prints the string to console, the sprintf updates a character array with the formatted string

    the formatting for each is the same and is detailed here :http://www.cplusplus.com/reference/cstdio/printf/

    Hope this helps to give you more options
