First arduino project, please help.

Ok, so i started a project utilizing arduinos (2x) (havent decided to go uno or mega yet)

 

My quesion is while using a tft screen and an adapter shield is there any way to expand the board?

I have ran out of pins. my project requires 15 output pins and 5 input pins(some analog and some digital) other than what are being used buy the tft screens.

 

is there anyway to make 2 or 3 arduino boards communicate with eachother instantly?

 

example: if arduino board(1) reads a digital signal into pin 5

              then arduino board(2) reads that arduino board(1) has recieved the signal so it sends a 5v output to a relay via pin 8?

 

I have yet to purchace my arduino boards, I would like some input about what would be the best way to do this.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank You.

    Hi Anthony,

     

    The Arduino Mega should fulfil your requirements.

     

    The site quotes "The Arduino Mega is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega1280. It has 54 digital input/output pins (of which 14 can be used as PWM outputs), 16 analog inputs, 4 UARTs (hardware serial ports), a 16 MHz crystal oscillator, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header, and a reset button."

     

    This should leave plenty of I/O after the shields are fitted. Can you let us know which TFT and adaptor shields you are using please?

    The below linked is the tft screen that i have picked i will be running 2 of them unless i can find a decent 5" screen then ill just run that

    this project will be running a good portion of my project car. including; blinkers, enigne on\off, heater controls, vent controls, hazard lights, windows, defrost defog, and other misc things around the vehicle. quite a big project but willing to put the time and effort into making it work.
