beginner info needed where to start

hey there I'm the new guy I'm trying to find out information on where I should go to start programmingI know Raspberry Pi and are Arduino is where people tend to go when they start I have no experience with either of them don't wanna know which would be the best to play around with that the lowest budget or if there's another platform are set up that would be better suited for a beginner to learn an add on to later I would greatly appreciate any input and if there's kids here please link me to the kids so I can see them as well I would like to get something soon.

 

I do you like tronic repairs and I'm not for me too I'm putting things together or by any means so when it comes to technical difficulty of the project I'm not concerned about that it's a programming platform and E ease of use that concerns me the most for a beginner.

    I must say both are great. Also, welcome to the element14 community -- keep coming back, you'll find so much knowledge and a great community.

     

    Personally, I would recommend picking up the C programming language. It's much, much easier than people thing. I would also recommend picking up a microcontroller development board. An Arduino is ideal for this, as you can program it as an Arduino, but you can also program it as an ATmega328P, which is what the heart of the Arduino is.

     

    The reason I recommend learning C is that it is much more powerful, and I personally find it easier to use than the Arduino libraries. That being said, for a beginner, the Arduino lessons on their website are excellent. If you click on my name you'll see a couple of projects I've had published here on element14. The most recent one, the Morse Code project, might be something you could build once you've got the basics under your belt.

    Thanks again guys for the info and help arduino looks like the winner to me to stat but im sure raspberry pi wont be that far behind it as the aspects of both intrigue me. So hopefully by thr end of the month here ill get my hands on the uno
