Greetings Tyler, actually no, I apply power to the Arduino and the lights when I want them to run, I would use a timer otherwise. The GE G35 lights use addressable modules. The Arduino send serial data…

used and arduino, DHT11 for temp and humidity sensing, soil resistance sensor, a water pump driven by relay, a fan also driven by relay, and a GSM shield for status reporting.
it was installed in a greenhouse to automate the watering of the plants

Does the GSM shield only need a SIM card to work? I have an old blackberry that isn't activated anymore. Could I take the SIM card out of that to use in this shield?
