Operating HB100 backpack with Arduino Due

Hello,

 

I need to connect a speed sensor module with an Arduino Due and calculate the speed of an approaching object.

 

the sensor is:

The sensor already output a signal that its' frequency represents the speed of the object.

 

I would really appreciate any help understating how can it be connected and operated by the Arduino, and how can I sample its output?

 

If more details are needed I'll be happy to supply.

    Based on what you have provided I would say you have two choices

     

    1. Measure the frequency using an internal counter here is an examle: http://interface.khm.de/index.php/lab/experiments/arduino-frequency-counter-library/

    2. measure the voltage using the built in ADC here is an example http://arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/ReadAnalogVoltage or my own tutorial code here : http://www.element14.com/community/groups/arduino/blog/2014/06/10/fast-track-to-arduino-programming--lesson-3-improved-parsing-and-memory-usage-fully-working-programs

    Thanks for the help.

     

    Can you please tell me where should I connect the module to the Arduino in order to operate it? Will connecting it to pin13 and set it to HIGH will do?

     

    I'm new to Arduino and am afraid I'll burn the sensor.

    Do you have the device described in the video with the daughter card to condition the signals as shown in the video

     

    If so then pin 13 will not help you, you need to watch the video / articles I linked in above they also include how to connect the Arduino up. You also need to be sure the voltages are within the limits of the Arduino (5V) coming out of the sensor and you will need to supply power to the sensor as well so how much does it need

    iI'm sorry but I can't see any video I these links.

     

    I have attached an image with the input and output of the sensor, it requires Vcc = 4.75V - 5.25V, Vout = 2.5 - Vcc.

    ok, that's good, do you know how much current it requires ?, if it is only a small amount then you could connect the 5V pin of the Arduino to it and of course the GND connection

     

    the output could go straight to one of the ADC pins (A0 - A5), these by default are configured to measure between 0-5V with a reading of 0 - 1023 after conversion. This is all clearly described in the link I gave above.

    follow those and you should be able to see something happening
