Microsoft seem to be giving away Intel Galileo boards

Windows on Devices

While they don't explicitly state the "dev kit" they will be issuing they picture the Intel Galileo board and say "Development hardware like the Intel Galileo board..." might suggest you will get the Galileo which is software and pin compatible with the Arduino Uno R3 but will run a headless version of windows (Atleast it can't BSOD if there is no monitor).

Just thought you might want to know and maybe check it out.

Yeah, Microsoft has been disappointingly nonresponsive. I signed up for this months ago, never heard anything back, and never received a kit. I was really looking forward to trying it out. It's a great…

I signed up for it, since it's great timing for a project at work. I'll let you know what happens.

    Yah, I got this:

    Hello Mike Wylie,

Thank you for signing up for the Windows Developer Program for IoT.  We’ll let you know when we have more to share.

    Thank you,
    The Microsoft IoT Team

I signed up a few weeks ago, I was sceptical about it due to the lack of controls and pre-conditions, they could get tens of thousands of applicants and with no apparent filtering mechanism or even a warning that some may not be selected, this could be a very very expensive venture for them, it makes you wonder.

I still signed up on the off chance though, nothing to loose except my identity I suppose image

They probally very favorable rates from Intel Microsoft can be a very generous company at times. In the past they have given me free licences to their software, given me free hardware not only from their own brands but from others too. I remember coming home one day and their being a fairly expensive Logitech Webcam sitting on my doorstep from Microsoft with a letter of thanks because I had reported a few issues with version of MSN Messenger back in the day.

Yeah sure it will cost them to get people interested in using their software but they are betting on future integration. They are also late to the party, pick up pretty much "IoT device" today and its probally running some form of unix if not its own custom OS.

Anyways I signed up, if something comes of it it does, if not oh well. I will probally forget about this until a knock at the door asking me to sign for something.
