Has anyone ever controlled a HD video camera using an Arduino?

Hi everyone,

I'm getting married this summer and I would really like to build a DIY Video Booth, where I would enclose a video camera and controller. The idea would be that people would come into the video booth, press a START button which would light up the booth and start a 3 second countdown after which the video would begin recording. The recording would last 20 seconds or so. I would also like a screen or iPad to connect to the recorder which would face the person so they could see themselves in the frame and also display instructions of use, countdown, thank you message etc. I've no doubt this can be done but can anyone steer me in the right direction with it?

Thanks so much in advance

John

Personally, I would probably tackle such a project using a Raspberry Pi. There is an HD camera module available for it, buttons could be connected to the GPIO pins and an HDMi screen could be connected for the preview. The pictures would be stored on the Pi's SD, which you could potentially make available via wifi/bluetooth.

    Just a thought image

    Hi Fredrick

That sounds like exactly what I need. Are they difficult to program? Do you know of any good sites that could help me with it?

    Many thanks

    Hi John,

searching for "Raspberry Pi Photo Booth", I've come across several tutorials/guides. This one seemed very interesting: http://www.drumminhands.com/2014/06/15/raspberry-pi-photo-booth/
