Hi, which arduino to buy?

Hi

 

I'm new to arduino, using raspberry pi, but I want to learn more and other cool stuff. So I wonder wich arduino I should buy? In the future (so I dont have to buy a new one..) I want to use this too f e x watering my plants in greenhouse and so on.

  • To help, please add a little more description of the project:

    • Will you need internet?
    • Will you have DC power near or will it run on battery?
    • How big can it be for a case or something?
    • How many things will it control? This will dictate memory needed and ports.
    • What is your budget?

    Thanks for your reply.

    • Internet would be great, wifi connection is good in my greenhouse, its possible with ethernet cable, but a lot more work
    • Both DC and battery is possible
    • Case can be as big as its needs to be, can set it outside greenhouse, in a waterproof environment
    • Watering *some* plants, not sure about how many yet, light controlling if possible, two things for now.
    • well budget.. that depends, I want to see how much this will cost (ca) before I start this

    I like the Arduino Pro Micro because it is small, powerful, inexpensive and it connects to USB without needing a USB interface chip (that adds to cost and size). The arduino Pro Micro is compatible with arduino Leonardo, which is a good choice if you want to use standard arduino shields (interface cards) but it is physically larger and more expensive. Once you have completed a couple of projects with a Pro Micro, it might be fun to try one of the bigger arduinos with Wi-Fi modules. Here is an example of how simple a Pro Micro is to use:

    Hi Frode i suggest u to buy the Arduino YUN, because it has the wifi capability.As a starter usually u buy the Arduino UNO,but doesn't support network so u ll have to buy a shield.
