Servo Problem

rishi2628
rishi2628 over 10 years ago

i have a custom avr atmega328 board to which two seven segment, a servo and a crystal with capacitor is attached. when only the seven segment is connected, the microcontroller works perfectly. But when i attach the servo along with the seven segment, it starts blinking very rapidly and the servo moves to the extreme end. i have programmed the servo to rotate 0 to 90 and then 90 to zero and the seven segment to show its angle. My code is fine, i have verified it using the arduino. i guess the crystal is causing some interference or there is anything else needed for the pwm operation that i am missing to use the servo. can anyone help me out...??????.....please!!!

Where is the power for the servo coming from? A diagram of connections would help greatly. a meter showing current would help if you have one handy. Clem

here is the schematic.................i tried simulating it......................the pwm pin (15th pin) is continuously on in the simulation ............. but when i make the same circuit using an arduino.............it works perfectly.image

Well a lack of capacitors on the crystal immediately raise concerns. The reliable timing of your PWM will most likely rely on capacitors being in place.
