ESP 01 overheating

Well, here is the diagram, the source code and a few more details.

1° Besides being crazy hot the ESP runs as it should, so the oscillator must be working properly

2° the Flash memory seams to be fine, since it does not overheats and i still can flash programs

3° I had swapped the ESP that i was using by another one, and every thing is working normally (just like the first one in the beginning of my tests)

You need to look at your IO and see if you are overdrawing current.

I suspect that you have too small a resistor somewhere or an unexpected short that is causing the excess current draw, and hence the overheating.

Done that, and the chip overheats even with no load. I'm suspecting of an internal short circuit (seams to be the only plausible explanation), but still no glue how it happen.

I have seen this happen in other chips. Based on what you have said and tested you likely have a polarity or other protection diode in the chips architecture that has failed. If you have a way to look at the current the bad one is using compared to the current a good one is using you will see where the heat is coming from. While the chip may continue to work OK for a while the heat will eventually be a death blow to it. It is best to replace it as you do not want it to fail when it is doing something important.
