I have an arduino uno as well and a
can you guide me to the next step with the wiring
here is the Chip used on the board http://www.allegromicro.com/~/Media/Files/Datasheets/A3967-Datasheet.ashx so you may be able to work out which wire does what function and goes where..
is there any reason it`s not actually marked on the boards silkscreen what each wire does?
Are you saying there is no easy way to just connect the canakit stepper motor to the arduino uno and or the motor shield to drive this moto

well, it`s not Plug`n`Play like some of the shields that have the SIL headers on, that simply fit onto the arduino itself, but it`s almost as easy if you can solder.
you`ll need your 4 stepper wires to go onto the board, these are usually organised by color.
you`ll need 2 Grounds, one for the Arduino, and one for the motors power supply, these will often be commoned.
you`ll need your 5v power from the arduino board, and a seperate power source for the motor, Dont try and run the motor from the arduinos Power supply you`ll blow the regulator!
then you`ll need to elect some arduino pins for the motors control logic, these can be anything from basic Clock and Direction pins, or direct switching whereby you present the step code yourself, a typical 4 bit bipolar number sequence would be; 9, 5, 6, 10. and then of course the reverse of that sequence to turn the other direction.
You may have an option for limit switches, you can ignore that for now though.
