Arduino boot loader question

Former Member
Former Member over 11 years ago

I purchased some atmel 328 chips with the boot loader programed in them.

I replaced the chip in my uno with one of these chips. It doesn't work. Whats going on?

I suspect it may not have a boot loader in it

Do you have an ISP programmer (Connects to the six pin header on the arduino), if so then you can simply add you own bootloader

If your VERY new to hardware, make sure the chip is plugged in the right way , if it was the wrong way, you may have damaged it but you could also be lucky

You also need to clarify which bootloader it has loaded.

There are two versions and some of the asian sourced UNO's use an USB to serial chip rather than the Atmega 8U or 16U chip.

In theory the Duemilanove programs slower so should work, but I haven't tried it.

    some info here.

    Arduino - ArduinoBoardUno

    Arduino - ArduinoBoardDuemilanove

Can you post the link to where you obtained these chips, and possibly the error message you get.
