I have a voltage source of 64 volts dc and i want to step it down to 5 volts dc. Will anyone suggest an ic or a circuit?

How much current (or failing that, what will be powered by the 5V) - it's not possible to make a sensible suggestion without knowing.

Just use a 5v switching regulator package. Linear regulators are a no go due to the amount of heat that they will produce.
0.5 amps
will the switching regulator handle 64 volts?
LM5007 will take the volts and just about manage the 0.5A output current.
Read the data sheet very carefully and make sure all the components on your board are suitable.
You'll need to design a pcb to use this chip.

Have you tried looking online?
gotta love those direct 78xx switching replacements for the old linear versions
