How much current (or failing that, what will be powered by the 5V) - it's not possible to make a sensible suggestion without knowing. MK

Just use a 5v switching regulator package. Linear regulators are a no go due to the amount of heat that they will produce.

LM5007 will take the volts and just about manage the 0.5A output current.

Read the data sheet very carefully and make sure all the components on your board are suitable.

You'll need to design a pcb to use this chip.
