OLED Screen that ISN'T low quality

Hello All,

I have an issue, and have only recently found this site.  I believe you all may be able to help me if what I understand about this site is true.  I'm under the impression that this is a community site for programmers and engineers alike to discuss such topics.  I hope my discussion fits and and does not violate any terms, conditions or any site ethics in general.

I am trying to create a custom N64 (A Nintendo home gaming console which released in North America on September 26, 1996).  The front of the N64 has a panel with their logo on it about 2.3 x 1.5 inches in size.  Of course the unit I aim to produce will not be the same dimensions of the original N64, but I'd like to remain similar in size.  So what's my issue?

I'm trying to find a part I need, preferably 1 x 4 inches in size, why is this difficult?  Because I'm looking for an OLED screen of these dimensions.  I'm sure I'm just looking in all the wrong places, but the only ones I can find are super low quality.  I don't mean cost-wise either, I'm talking in terms of pixel/colours.  Most of what I can find have a very limited number of pixel available in the screen (such as 128 x 32) or they have just enough on the screen to provide the front operations of an alarm clock, and they all have between 1 & 8 colours.

I'm looking for a OLED screen that can accommodate the animation I'll attach with a .gif on this post without having to remake it as an 8 or 16 bit animation.  I hope to have this screen come on when the console is on and continue to repeat the animation till it powers down.  The reason I want an OLED is because I REALLY want that black-black.  Like, in the space that the logo is not operating, I want it to look as black as I'm going to make the case of the console.

Could anyone PLEASE point me in the direction of someplace I could buy a screen like this?

Have you looked at Adafruit's RGB OLED displays. I cannot vouch for those displays, but based on this quote from their website "and the contrast is very high (black is really black)" it may well be worth…

Hi Nova, I think ebay/aliexpress is a possibility. The market for OLEDs seems to be for mobile phones and TVs etc., so you can probably pick up spares for a mobile phone if it is the correct size. The…

I'm no expert in this area, but I think amoled displays offer the ppi you're after, although screen size may be an issue. Did a quick search online and pulled up this example https://marketplace.oled-info…

That's actually fairly close to what I could use, but like you can see in the preview photo with the flower there's still a very limited amount of ppi.   The screen you linked has a ppi of about 85 to 86 (it came out as 85.333333333333~ etc.).  While I do like the contrast on that screen in particular I'm looking for a screen that has around at least 200 ppi.  I'm trying to give off a bold clean image rather than a pixelated one, just because it's a retro console doesn't mean I want it to look like one.
