Tips on what sensor to use to measure lux levels?

Hello-

I have beginner level knowledge when it comes to Arduino, but I'm looking for a basic sensor that is able to measure lux levels when placed out in the sun. Eventually that data will be used to rotate a servo motor x amount of degrees based on variable lighting conditions.

Based on the small amount of research I've done so far, I've come across Sarkari Result Pnr Status

  • BH1750 Showbox
  • TSL2561

and I'm curious if anyone has experience with these sensors or is willing to add any recommendations.

  • Be aware that some attenuation may be necessary. In my experience, some of the lux sensors are designed for integration into areas like smartphone mobile displays for auto-brightness feedback and will not be able to handle full direct sun without saturating readings. A neutral density glass filter may be placed over the top of the sensor to extend its range.
