Segmentation fault

Dear All,

I was trying to solder two wires to my board's power input. Then it turned out that the power fuse is dead after soldering! :-(

Now after that this issue has been fixed, when I transfer a compiled program into my zynq linux I either receive "Segmentation fault" or "Illegal instruction" error while I run my program. Although there is no problem with the built-in programs.

What might be the possible problem(s)?!

Hi seyyedi,

Which toolchain are you using to compile your application? Have you tried building and running something simple like a "Hello World" application?

Also, are you building your application as a Xilinx SDK project or are you building outside the Xilinx tools?

To add on to Kevin's response, I would suggest running your applications in the qemu emulator to ensure that it is not compiled incorrectly. Directions on downloading the emulator here:

http://wiki.xilinx.com/zynq-qemu

Download, extract, and run the emulator. There is an FTP server that is loaded up in the ram-disk image. You can ftp into the qemu VM with this command:

$ ftp 127.0.0.1 10021

Let us know if the files are compiled correctly (run within the qemu VM) and if they are we can debug the hardware form there.

Hi,

Today when I came back to the office, I saw that although I didnt touch anything, my programs works just fine on both QEMU and the real platform. I still cannot believed it working!! O_o

Please give me a day or two to see whether it keeps working or not.
What would have been the possible problem?
