Question about Lab 6 of Introduction to Zynq

Hi,

I'm following the "Introduction to Zynq" training.
So far so good.

In lab 6 (Adding Interrupts from PL) I get stuck.
On page 4, step 11, the task is:
"Click in the Port connection area for GPIO2_IO_I, which will bring up a dialog."

But that never happens.
RMB gives, No Connection, Make Connection or Make External.
Double clicking gives the "configure dialog" pop-up.

How do I get to the screen that the is shown in the PDF?

I'm using the 14.2 version, provided with the board.

Rgds,
Technicolor

    Hi

I have found XPS to be very temperamental with port connections, sometimes the only way to connect ports is to go into the MHS file and do it by hand.  One way which normally works is to select all the ports you want to connect using ctrl + LMB, then right-click and you should have a "Connect Ports..." option.  I have rarely seen that dialog box come up, whichever version of the tools I was using.

    Hi,

    Thanks Matthew.

Replaycing the axi_gpio in the MHS file with the code below (copied form the proivded solution) seems to do the trick.

Step 13 then seems to work, so the tutorial can be continued.

    BEGIN axi_gpio
    PARAMETER INSTANCE = axi_gpio_0
    PARAMETER HW_VER = 1.01.b
    PARAMETER C_BASEADDR = 0x41200000
    PARAMETER C_HIGHADDR = 0x4120ffff
    PARAMETER C_INTERRUPT_PRESENT = 1
    PARAMETER C_IS_DUAL = 1
    PARAMETER C_GPIO2_WIDTH = 5
    PARAMETER C_ALL_INPUTS_2 = 1
    BUS_INTERFACE S_AXI = axi_interconnect_1
    PORT S_AXI_ACLK = processing_system7_0_FCLK_CLK0
    PORT GPIO_IO_O = axi_gpio_0_GPIO_IO_O
    PORT IP2INTC_Irpt = axi_gpio_0_IP2INTC_Irpt
    PORT GPIO2_IO_I = net_Pushbuttons
    END

    Hi,

You also need to add the external port as well.
Edit the MHS file by adding the line

    PORT Pushbuttons = net_Pushbuttons, DIR = I, VEC = [4:0]

    at the location shown below

    +-----{ START MHS FILE} -----+
    PARAMETER VERSION = 2.1.0
    [...]
    PORT Pushbuttons = net_Pushbuttons, DIR = I, VEC = [4:0]

    [...]
    BEGIN processing_system7
    PARAMETER INSTANCE = processing_system7_0
    [...]
    +-----{ END MHS FILE} -----+

This then solves step 16 in the lab on page 5

    Rgds,
    Technicolor
