Connecting customized IP to external pins on Microzed board

Former Member
Former Member over 10 years ago

We have designed a daughter board which will go and fit into JX1 and JX2 connectors of Micorzed board. We are using some of the pins from JX1_LVDS_* and JX2_LVDS_* interfacing our daughter board to micorzed board. If I create my customized IP, how can  I connect my IP ports (rather map IP ports) to these external pins? I could not find anything in HW lab examples.

It will be a great help if somebody can let me know how can we implement it? It will be appreciated somebody can also point me to some working example.

Thanks
Kavish

    Hello Kavish,

You will need to generate a .xdc constraints file that will assign your signals to the specific pins you need. A good example of how this works would be to take a look at the master constraints file for one of our Avnet MicroZed Carrier Cards. This one is for the MicroZed FMC Carrier card:

    http://zedboard.org/sites/default/files/documentations/Z7010%20or%20Z7020%20MicroZed%20with%20MBCC-FMC-PCB-B_v2.zip

You can generate something similar for your custom daughter board.

Thank you very much Gary. Can you please also let me know where to include this file during compilation of the design?

    Thanks
    Kavish
