USB to I2C communication

Hello,

I am currently developping a board to evaluate if the FPGA XC7Z020 is valid for our product. To do that I am using the ZedBoard.

In my PCB, I have placed several devices which use I2C communication. My question is: is there any way to communicate with this I2C devices without using the FPGA? I was wondering if it is possible to use the USB port to communicate directly with the I2C bus in the ZedBoard.

Of course, this communication could be very simple. For instance, asking for the I2C addresses connected to this line. With that I would be able to assure that those devices are OK.

    I'm not sure I understand the question completely. If by "without using the FPGA" you mean not using the PL, that is possible. You can connect the I2C devices directly to MIO pins and then use the built in I2C controllers in the PS. I can't think of any way to use a USB connection the ZedBoard to connect to the I2C devices without creating some bridging function, either in the PS or the PL. What did you decide to do with your product?
