Enabling USB Gadget on Yocto

Has anyone had any success in enabling USB Gadget device support on USB0 as outlined in section 3.10.2 USB Device of the Yocto User Manual V2.1?

I have tried a few different iterations and I cannot seem to get USB Device mode started.

Also, the example provided in manual is using the USB0 in device mode as a USB Serial device. We would like to use for other types of Gadgets. Is this supported?

  • So I figured it out - took looking back in some history of kernel releases where there was more comments in uEnv.txt file saying how to configure / use different modes. All do not match documentation.

    To enable USB0 in Device mode you need to update your uEnv.txt in uBoot directory and uncomment following line:

    #fdt_file=maaxboard-usb0-device.dtb

    After reboot, Gadget works as expected. At least in my initial testing.

    Actually, the section 3.1 Settings in uEnv.txt shows a copy of uEnv.txt with full documentation. What is needed is an update to section 3.10.2 - it is misleading.
