Custom Peripheral W/ Slave Interface

Is it possible to create a custom peripheral with a slave interface so that I can connect it to a master interface on the axi interconnect?

If so, I was wondering what the structure of the code has to be in vhdl in order to create the slave interface.

Lab 7 of the tutorial with the Avnet "Developing Zynq 7000 All Programmable SoC Hardware" Speedway Workshop steps you though how to create a custom peripheral with a slave axi interface and integrate it into your Zynq system. There are versions of the tutorial for both the ZedBoard and the MicroZed board. You can download the presentation material and labs here: http://www.zedboard.org/support/trainings-and-videos

The lab example is implemented using Verilog but you could choose VHDL and implement in a similar fashion.
