MicroZed Availability and Lead Times

Hello,

We are currently using 20 MicroZeds in our organization, and have a quote to purchase 80 additional MicroZeds. Unfortunately, they are out of stock and the lead times for both the Commercial and Industrial 7020 versions are listed at "52 weeks". My questions are: 1) What are the actual lead times looking like? I'm aware that the holdup is likely Xilinx / TSMC, so you probably can't make any commitments, but I'm wondering if you can give me some insight into that number. In other words, is 52 weeks a conservative estimate and it will hopefully be shorter? 2) We can use either the commercial or the industrial versions of these boards. Do you have any insight into which ones might become available quicker?

Thanks for your help. I've already tried reaching out to Avnet and I keep getting generic sales people who so far have been unable to tell me anything that isn't on the website already. If anyone else reading this has any ideas on how to get MicroZeds quicker, I'd be interested. We would even be willing to pay a hefty premium (perhaps 2x the cost), in order to get some additional boards in short order.

The Xilinx lead-time is 52 weeks for many products, including the ones on the MicroZed 7020. You can see this on the Avnet pages selling those devices:

In reality, our lead-time should be 60 weeks since it takes at least 8 weeks after we receive parts to build new boards and ship them, but so far we've been able to stay ahead of the demand somewhat. However, things are getting tighter. Xilinx is not the only manufacturer with long lead-times, so that is not the only problem.

My best advice to you is to find a local Avnet FAE and work with them. They have access to internal reports that show our build schedule and backlog. From what I can see, the MicroZed 7020 I-grade has the soonest availability, but the current quantity left to sell is limited (30). The C-grade may take slightly longer, but you could get more of them. Problem is that this changes daily, so find your FAE and work with them to get an order placed that makes sense for you.

You say you keep reaching out to Avnet and getting generic sales people. My advice is to call the Avnet branch geographically closest to you. Do not call the corporate number. When you reach the branch, tell them that you want to speak with the Xilinx-dedicated FAE or TSE.
